FAQ

Q. Do I have to be “Mennonite” to attend Neffsville Mennonite Church?

A. No. Our members have come from a vast array of backgrounds. Some grew up in the Catholic church, others Protestant, others Lutheran, etc., while others grew up without a church and without any spiritual direction at all.

Q. Is there a dress code?

A. No. Our male members wear anything from blue jeans to suits, while our female members wear anything from pants to dresses. The obvious misconception here is that all Mennonites wear black clothes and head coverings. Although many Mennonites may wear more conservative traditional clothing, here at Neffsville the policy is to be comfortable.

Q. Are there any other church related activities besides the Sunday service?

A. Absolutely! We have many different activities for all ages and interests. Our “Wednesday Night Out” is one of our biggest weekly events. It starts out with a great tasting dinner at the church. After dinner there are meetings of different groups and classes, including prayer groups, Bible study (beginner and advanced), choir, boys and girls clubs, youth activities, etc.

Dinner is free if it is your first time attending! NOTE: We have “Wednesday Night Out” from about September to May. It does not run over the summer.

Q. Do you have a nursery for children?

A. Yes we do. There are separate rooms for practically every age.

Q. Are there any beliefs which the Mennonite church has that may be somewhat different than other churches?

A. The Mennonite Church is a peace church and we believe in adult baptisms. These two beliefs, although not necessarily unique to the Mennonite church, are somewhat different than many churches.

Q. Is music important in your church?

A. Yes. Music plays an important role in our church, both through instruments such as the organ, piano, handbells, and guitars, and through singing. We try to incorporate both traditional and contemporary music in our services.
