Red Cross surveys building

Duane King, from the Red Cross came by on Tuesday to look at our building. After speaking with our head trustee after all the flooding in September we thought it might be a good idea to look into opening up our building as a shelter in times of need.

So Duane came by and looked around, took some measurements. Now as a church we need to decide if we are willing to open our facilities up for something like this. It is right in line with one of our visions: We will be known as a place of refuge for those that have experienced tragedy in their lives.”

So what do you think. Should we do this? Comment on the idea below.

I think this is a wonderful way to continue the ministry of Jesus!

Glad to hear you think so. Any questions you think we need to be asking as we process this as a congregation?

Seems like a “no brainer” to me- of course we should! We should be asking… “Who is willing to come cook and serve a hot meal to some people having a bad day?”

Thanks for your thoughts Lindsey. This is just what the “Meals from the Heart” ministry is all about.
